The Troutman Police Department promotes public safety through service, integrity, and professionalism utilizing partnerships to:
Prevent, reduce, and deter crime and the fear of crime.
Enhance street safety through education and enforcement.
Safeguard property and protect individual rights.
In all areas of service, we seek to improve the quailty of life of those whom we are entrusted to serve.
Our team of Twenty (20) commissioned police officers (14 Fulltime and 6 Part-time officers), are dedicated to keeping the citizens of Troutman safe and secure in their persons, homes and property. This Department is on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year, and every officer in our Department is in continuous training for new duties and challenges.
The Troutman Police Department was first established in 1977, and became a 24-hour operation in 1993. We are now a full service police department with 14 full time officers, including our Chief of Police, two (2) Patrol Lieutenants, Patrol Sergeant K-9 Officer, Detective Sergeant, Corporal K-9 Officer, two (2) Traffic Safety Officers, four (4) patrol officers, and (2) two School Resource Officers.
In practice, as befitting a tight-knit team like ours, everyone is fully capable and prepared to handle whatever duties the day brings. Small town police departments do not have the luxury of highly specialized departments, so our officers must handle a broad range of duties and responsibilities in the course of every working day.
Our officers are dispatched through the Iredell County Emergency Communications Center in Statesville, NC. Like all the municipal police departments in the state, we work closely with the Iredell County Sheriff’’s Office, Statesville Police Department Mooresville Police Department as well as all other state and federal law enforcement agencies, as the need arises.
